FUTURES_PAST: Amplifying Memory with Immersive Technologies is a two-year programme connecting artists, producers, and archives in South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi to create immersive works from archival collections.
The programme supports research, co-creation, production, training, and international mobility, cultivating skills development and new approaches to public engagement.

Through collaboration between immersive artists, archivists, and cultural custodians across South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi, Futures_Past produced six immersive experiences where archival material is reactivated through a range of formats including spatial sound, projection-based environments, interactive installation, and VR and AR systems.
